the grammys 2012. so, that happened...

i sat through the entire grammy awards thinking, why in the hell am i watching this!?!? i mean without zbb it's pretty much pointless... the highlights were few... adele singing her freaking heart out, my girl kelly clarkson looking brilliant, the foo fighters still rocking, and the half second performance by the civil wars... is it just me or does the guy look exactly like johnny depp!?!? yes ma'am!! the rest was just generic blah blah blah, la la la, whitney houston, blah blah blah. i'm not making light of loosing miss houston, but i don't think it's a secret that she had been struggling. hopefully she is at peace now. okay, so we know the only real reason to watch the grammys is see all of the fashion ugly... well, there wasn't nearly as much as i had hoped... but not to fear lady gaga and nicki minaj had enough crazy to last a lifetime...
holy freaking lord. what in the hell is wrong with this woman?!?!? was she just not loved enough as a child? do you think this is fun for her!?!? that thing on her face looks like it's actually hurting her!! i mean i understand beauty is pain, but this versace get up is just a hot damn mess. her face looks like a busted joan crawford, all pulled and what not. i'm not one for violence, but i think i would hit her...
now, i don't know why i'm surprised that nicki minaj is a freaking nut job, but i am disappointed. the weird versace get up and the weird sacrilegious performance weren't good... in fact, they were bad. really bad. i love all of her work on kanye's album and i find her sound pretty brilliant, but i'm sorry this is the reason that i can't listen to popular music... just so full of their own shit that they think they can get away with anything on stage and call it "art" i call bs.
you light up my liiiifffffeeeee. i love me some gwyneth. this is no surprise. she has been singing her little heart out all over film and television, but i suppose being mrs. coldplay will get you invited to the grammys... and boy am i glad she was... this stella mccartney was my ABSOLUTE favorite dress at the awards. she is stunning and this dress is beyond brilliant.
malin ackerman starts a sub-category i like to call, why are you at the grammys?! i really shouldn't complain because i absolutely adore her get up. the dress is a cushnie et ochs and i think it's flipping amazing. i love the kick ass little booties with it. i think she looks hot... still don't know why she's at the grammys...
kate beckinsale is very attractive. she's an actress. yup, no idea why she is at the grammys... i think she is absolutely beautiful, but gina's girl crush is not doing anything for me in this zuhair murad... it's just sweet, not much else... so even further confused... why!?
it's official. this is the best dress taylor swift has ever worn!! i mean come on!!! she looks insane. i love the hair pulled back into a sleek bun, the soft and elegant makeup, and the dress... omg... the dress. this zuhair murad is just brilliant on her slender 6 foot frame... i just can't believe how much i love this. the back is so beautiful and the neckline is killer. well done swifty, still hate your music, but well done.
SHE'S BAAAAACK!!!!!!!! adele is everything. omg. perfection!!!!! she is brilliant and i really dig this armani dress on her. and while i loved her as a red head, the platinum hair with the signature eye, and orangey red lip... job well done!!! so glad she swept the show!!!!
i have to admit... i love this dress... well, let me explain... when i first saw these photos of fergie-ferg in this jean paul gaultier i was less than impressed, but when i saw her on the actual show, i fell in love. this is definitely an "in person" kinda thing. i think she looks great... and just a little crazy... it's all about balance at the grammys...
so this is carrie underwood, maybe you've heard of her!? i like her a lot, but something about this gomez-garcia gown is just super blah to me. the back is beautiful and it definitely fits her beautifully, but i am just a little bored... and the hair is pretty awful... too bad, i usually love her dresses.
gotta admit, i think this is super hot. it's like city-chic. i love the hair, neckline, and ah-mazing shoes!!! the alexandre vauthier dress is simple, but the strong shoulders and neckline make it pretty brilliant. i think it's a perfect look for her.
well... i will give rihanna one thing, this armani dress is very revealing while somehow still offering adequate coverage... i mean we have tits, ass, and crotch... that's a lotta skin... it is a very pretty dress, but with the weird blonde hair and wonder woman cuff... i don't know, thoughts? i'm just underwhelmed, especially compared to the amazing jean paul gaultier she wore last year...
all images via
and last but certainly not least, katy "i can shoot fireworks from my boobies" perry. i love colored hair, i really do, but matching your hair to your dress?!? 2 thumbs down. especially when she had such potential to look amazing. the elie saab gown is brilliant, but per usual katy perry refuses to just be pretty, so she sprays her hair blue and makes a silly alien helmut head hairdo... one of these days she'll get it right... sidenote: i think russell brand is a genius and i absolutely hate that they aren't together...
oh and let's not forget kelly clarkson... how wonderful does this chick look?! the hair. the makeup. the gown. she has really been dressing like a woman and just looks out-of-control-awesome. lalalalove. can't wait to see her in concert in april!!!!!!

so here are some fashion highlights and lowlights... so what did you think of the grammys? did you dig the fashion? performances? are you as confused by pop music as i am?!?!?

good ole cma's... nutso as ever.

so, as we all know i get a little country award happy because a. who doesn't love to see some tacky. b. i love seeing zac brown band kick ass and take names!! and guess what!? they did!!! again!!!! hooray!! best new flippin' artist bitches!!!!! and my girls were just beautiful!!!!!!! yay!!!

best dressed... drum roll pleaaaaasssseeee...
this was easy. gwyneth paltrow, love of my life, looked ah-mazing in atelier versace. her legs are out of control. i love the cut outs on this dress. simple, but super interesting. i think it's just stunning. and her performance was just fabulous. she is a classy lady!!!

now, on to the crazy...
someone please explain to me why in the heck kathrine heigl was even at the awards!? my lord i find her obnoxious. and this dress just likes like a baaaaaad bridesmaids gown. ew. and it is super unflattering around her armpit fat. totally not attractive. uh.
sheryl crow is seriously one of the most beautiful women on the planet. buuuuut, there is something off about this gown. my guess is that it looks better in person, but on camera is just looks very blah and ill fitting. her hair and makeup look STUNNING and ohmylord i want all of her bracelets.
well, on the upside it looks like nicole kidman is laying off the injectables. thank the lord, but this look is just very boring. this d&g dress is okay, but the shoes are disgusting!!! they make a tall, leggy chic look short and stubby. no bueno.
okay, leighton meester. i don't hate this look. the dress is emilio pucci and sorta fun. the shoes are genius, but where i loose it is the hair and makeup. her hair looks like an afterthought and her makeup is no existent.
i seriously had no idea who this was... it's julianne hough!? crazy? the hair totally threw me. and this massive georges chakra dress totally makes me wanna hit babies. it's like halloween vomited on her. she's so petite and this dress just swallows her whole. and that hair!!! it's terrible. this is just a mondo fail.
i would love to get to do this chicks makeup. she's from lady antebellum and she just always looks like a drag queen at these shows. she is clearly very pretty, but eh... i don't know... the big hair, the over done eyes, the awful dress. that crumb catcher is just over bearing... forget crumbs that thing could catch a full sandwich. not good.
martina mcbride is so stinking cute, but this aluminum foil dress is not cute. it makes her right shoulder look like she's wearing football pads and she appears to have a pouch were the rouching meets up. i guarantee that there is not an ounce of fat on the chick, so that's just poor construction. plus, i really don't like the shoes. dark ankle straps = short legs. even if your a thousand feet tall. see nicole kidman.
so here's the thing. i love this monique lhuillier dress. i really do. but fashion 101. DO NOT match your eye shadow to your gown. geez manetti. and jennifer nettles has been doing this long enough to know that, but i do love the dress. the hair is a bet manic and the makeup is just AWFUL. she's making enough money to have a pro do her makeup... so come on jenn... better luck next time.
oh geez. taylor swift in a boring monique lhuillier dress with boring hair and boring liquid liner. her style  bores me. come to think of it her music bores me too... but i don't want to make her cry cause she seems very sweet. but boring.
 ah! enough said.
what the eff was leann rimes thinking!? she's wearing a ports1961 sundress to an award show?! i think she has lost her mind. between all of her crazy tweets and news reports it's ah-mazing that she hasn't shaved her head yet. but seriously, she and eddie ciberan are definitely going to be together forever.
apparently miranda lambert was rolling her eyes while gwyneth was singing. i hope that's not true. but i think she looks pretty fabulous in this sherri hill dress. i would change the position of the straps because i don't find the off the shoulder flattering. but she really looks pretty. love the earrings.
when bad clothes happen to good people. yikes. yikes. oh dear. hmm. well... uh... right. so this is a talbot runhof and it makes me sad. it turns, literally, one the most beautiful women on the face of the earth into a hot damn mess. this is just schizo. dear carrie underwood you are better than this. i expect more.

so, that was just a taste of the crazy that went down at the cma's last wednesday. so tell me, who was your favorite!? who was just a hot mess!? did you hear gwyneth sing!? what did you think?

met gala 2010: i don't get it...

so this is basically the list of people that the general public are going to think looked lovely, but just bore me to tears or don't fill my heart with joy...
oh, it's a big event... please invite the teenage country singer... alrighty. as many of you know i totally resent the fact that this chick is famous because there are talented people who aren't famous... not fair and while she seems to be very sweet, still kinda bugs me. she is wearing a ralph lauren and looking typical. she is pretty. the red lip and curls are great... even if she has worn them a thousand times before...
thandi newton is stunning. and while i adore the dress... the hair and the necklace are just alllll wrong. the necklace looks like something you would pick up at claire's. i. don't. dig. the hair is just not modern or fresh. so overall, i just don't get it.
anna wintour in chanel. she scares me. don't like this. please, don't have me killed.
so news flash, gisele is hot... we know. this alexander wang seems like overkill, plus, i have never been into fringe. i mean her body is sick... hair and makeup are nice, so i can't hate. i just don't love this.

kristen bell in ysl. she looks nice. it's not over the top fabulous or over the top nasty. it just is. the fit is a bit off. like it needs to practically be falling off of her boobies to hit the floor. i like the texture, but that's about it. as always, her makeup and hair are stunning.
my super girl crush, kstew. who you all seem to dislike!! i think she is fabulous, but this chanel look doesn't do it for me. the dress is kinda perfect for her, but the hair is just soooo wrong. and the complete lack of jewels is totally strange. and if only we could get her to stand up straight. i love her, don't be mean.
my phantom of the opera doppelganger, emmy rossum in kenneth cole. i am underwhelmed, but this isn't terrible and the necklace is ah-mazing. the color is stunning on her pale skin, but there isn't much going on.
i just recently watched my first 15 minutes of gossip girl... i was appalled at the bad. the acting, the story, i mean i was just in shock... cause fyi i like really bad television. but i will let blake lively slide because i freaking love the traveling pants movies... yes, i love them and i have seen them both like a thousand times. i also love her shoes. and this marchesa is very pretty, but i just want more, yeah know? plus, i am hating the slicked back hair.
so, one of my other girl crushes, rachel weisz in oscar de la renta. now, i love her in hot pink, but i do not like this dress. we have just seen her so fabulous that this is a bit of a let down. she on the other hand is absolutely stunning and just insanely sexy... i just don't love this dress.
joy bryant is beautiful and always looks fresh, but something about this marchesa look screams granny... i don't know. i loooove the earrings, but the dress just doesn't work. it's like it's supposed to be fairy princess, but it's just too heavy...
yay, kirsten dunst on the carpet. i love this chicks style, buuut, not loving this. first, it is like a super unsuccessful version of the vivienne westwood she wore once upon a time. but the kicker is the shoes!!!!! what in the hell are they!?!? uh, hello witchy-poo. grody.
here is a much better sophie thealet for gap creation on super hot jessica alba. this look is all fine and dandy, but i just don't love it. it really is beautiful, but the hair is a bit much and it's just not perfect. catch my drift?

acm orange carpet fashion: fail

holy acm's batman. that's right the american country music awards, yee haw!!! now, the show itself was not my cup of tea. zac brown band wasn't in attendance, so i really wasn't paying much attention, they were up for entertainer of the year and lost to carrie underwood...suck... but the way i look at it, at least taylor swift didn't win. but even though the guys weren't there, the icky fashion more than made up for it... wow. lots of bad. let's look.
jennifer nettles in a whole lotta look. i don't mind the dress. i love navy and the fabric is beautiful and it fits her beautifully. but is it just me or is her styling just waaaay too over the top. the big necklace, the choker, the clutch, the bracelet, the super dark eye... it's just like she's trying way too hard. kinda like when you watch her sing... it looks like she is passing a gallstone with every note. pain.
eh? this doesn't blow my skirt up, my favorite part is the clutch. the dress is basil soda and i just don't love it. the drapes in the fabric are beautiful and i adore the neckline, but i'm underwhelmed. and i really dislike that that her hair is the exact same color as the dress. not the best.
well, at least she's not trying to hide it anymore. leanne rimes with her boy toy eddie cibrian. this is actually my favorite look of the night. unlike the rest of the ladies, she looks so modern. the zipper on the side of the dress is super sexy and the mesh in the shoes is just hoooot. plus, like i said, love navy. it's just simple and hot. she's blllluuuuuuuuueeeeeee... what? don't judge me. it's funny.
the host, reba, in all her glory... now, reba is fab, but i have to say this dress is very old. i mean i know reba isn't crazy young, but this is just not a good look, she is way too hot to wear something so sad. it just reminds me of the early 90's and it doesn't look very expensive and i'm sure it was. but she's reba, love her.
eh... swifty. she's in marchesa and i'm not sure if it's her or the dress, but i am just bugged by it. it's super old for her... like it should be sexier, this is too matronly. the color doesn't help.  the marchesa that olivia wilde wore to the emmy's worked because it was mysterious and the cutouts were kinda scandalous. this is just sweet and demure. and the hair just the same thing she always does. bored.
oh kristen bell, what happened to your fashion sense? i used to love all of her looks, but lately i have just not been digging it. she has such a rocking body and is just so freaking hot and this does not show that. i think it's the color. if it was just a few shades darker... her hair and makeup on the other hand are freaking insane! super hot.
this isn't a bad look on mrs. faith hill mcgraw. i just don't like her hair bone straight. she's no spring chicken and i think the super straight hair should be left to the youngens. she's a sexy mom and in my opinion this hair ages her.
what in the f are you wearing on your feet!?!? uh, sorry light of my life, nicole kidman, those shoes are disgusting with this dress. i never thought it could be possible to make her thousand mile legs look short!!!! those shoes ruin a pretty cute ensemble, i really like the l'wren scott tux dress. what it gods green christ!?!? no. no no no. no. bad choice.
this is a lady antebellum, this dress isn't terrible, but something about the way she carries herself and that hair makes it more pageant queen than an award winning musician. the color is nice on her. she's a pretty girl, she doesn't need so much makeup. and then there's the dudes...
hmmm. something i noticed about a lot of the guys is that country music has gone very metro- it's really strange. i guess it's a part of that whole pop-country fusion thing that is happening. but skinny jeans, skinny ties, perfectly groomed facial hair, and glitter? really doesn't scream country music to me, but to each his own. as long as he knows he looks absolutely ridiculous.
esh. julianne hough looks like she's late to her texas debutante ball. the weird silver thing is not flattering on the petite dancer. this just does nothing for me. and the hair is soooo not hip.
where in the devil has jewel been? apparently at the acm awards. this dress reminds me of the boring gown fergie wore to the golden globes. this just doesn't look fancy. the dress mixed with the hair, earrings, and beading it's just too prom night.
ah! oh, sorry i was terrified by the bad fashion. this is steel magnolia, i assume they are a group. this is just nasty. it's an even worse version of demi moore's versace oscar gown. the black belt is just the kicker. not good. it's not even tied well, so it doesn't make her waist look smaller. cute girl, bad dress.
hmm. miranda lambert was one of the winners of the evening, but not for best dressed. her breasts look as if they are repelled one another... it's like the red sea. she has a beautiful curvy shape, but this look is totally not working. it's nice that it nips in at her waist, which is really tiny, but the flare of the skirt hits funny on her hips then flares, making her look wide instead of flattering her. her bed head also looks a little too bed heady, like she really just woke up. that's not how it works.

so what do you think? am i totally being too harsh on the ladies of country music? or totally hitting the nail on the head? do you think that country musicians in general are behind in the fashion curve? if so, why?
