okay, so while helping a friend revamp her wardrobe a few weekends ago, i came across these citizen flowery jeans that i had been lusting after in magazine after magazine... well, needless to say i have a problem because i purchased them on the spot... with my husbands lukewarm blessing, "green light." i'll take it!!!! if you don't believe me check here and here, flowery denim is so in. yay spring!!!

 

so for this particular outing i kept the look super simple, white t, gold necklaces, and my favorite cynthia vincent sandals. i can't wait to dress them up... i'll update when i do, because i know you can barely get through the day without wondering what i'm wearing and how awesome it is...

materialistic misconceptions...

sometimes, i wonder if my love for clothes and shoes and handbags and jewelry gives off the impression that i am something that i'm not... a stuck up, materialistic bitch. i've never quite understood why people who don't share the same love of fashion somehow equate fashion to shallowness!? i understand it's nonessential, but geez, other than food, water, and shelter, isn't everything kinda unnecessary!? we all wear clothes, what's wrong with wanting them to be special?

i'm not sure when the concept of spending money on well-made and classic pieces of clothing became such a ridiculous notion. i'm in no way saying that you should spend money on clothes if it's outside of what you can afford, but i don't understand buying tons of junky cheap clothes that are going to eventually fall apart when you can purchase a few quality pieces that will last a lifetime. i'm not saying that a forever21 shopping spree isn't fun once in a while, but i find that i am most rewarded when i buy things that are quality...

have you heard of the term cost per wear? basically, it's the cost divided by the amount of times you can wear the item... do this and you are left with actual value per wear... just an example, so say you buy a pair of 25 dollar shoes and you are able to wear them for one summer before they crap out, you have spent 25 cents per wear... now say you buy a pair of 125 dollar sandals, but you can wear them for 5 summers, your cost per wear is still only 25 cents per wear and you won't have to re-purchase sandals for 5 years!!! i'm a big believer in cost per wear...

i have helped tons of friends, who were hesitant to spend any money on themselves let alone on clothes, learn how to dress their bodies with clothes that make them feel ah-mazing!! it's brilliant how on their own they end up leaning towards nicer brands and more well made clothes. it's addicting.

so basically this is a giant rant for me to say... purchasing nice things and loving fashion isn't an issue of materialism, the humble everyday fashion lover just wants to wear beautiful things that are going to last.

so, this is a special post for the top 6 stinkers of the evening... oooOOOOooooo, they were so bad.

yikes, piper perabo. holy lord. what on earth are you wearing!?!? it's like a giant, tan, sheer garbage bag... and whatever honey is injecting in her face is aging her big time... she's such a pretty girl and this look is killing me. piper, fire the stylist. awful.

so, this is jessica chastian. if you aren't familiar with her work you should be, she is going to be the next mega actress. she is brilliant and usually well dressed, but there is nothing good about this givenchy gown. it makes a very tiny person, look... dare i say... dumpy. the hair and neckline just scream 80's. no ma'am.  

ahhhhh, buffy what the crap!?? smg is wearing marchesa and looks like cinderella on acid... and since when do we match our eyeshadow to our dress!? she is so cute and this just looks completely nutty...

what the bloody mother hell is going on here!?!? um, so zooey is absolutely the cutest person in existence, but this prada gown is disgusting. i can't find a single thing nice to say about this... i look forward to not looking at it anymore.

wowzas. so this is hottie that landed j.timberlake? color me confused. i don't get it... jessica biel is absolutely beautiful. flawless hair. flawless skin. as far as i can tell she is wearing a dress from bette white's alternates... it looks frumpy and if you look really hard it looks like she has a third boob. so much bad. 

oh madge. first, i hope to look like madonna when i'm 78 years old... or whatever she is, but this reem acra gown is just crazy-town from the waist down. and come on, the giant cross and the gloves? surely madonna has people reminding her that it's not 1987 anymore... you'd think?

what's the big deal with rooney mara!?

so, i'm confused. i get that rooney mara went crazy method transforming from your average preppy white girl to this "bad ass" by cutting her hair, piercing things, and dying her eye brows blonde... but i have to say, she got paid boat loads to do it... and if i'm not mistaken noomi rapace already did all of that in the successful swedish version. any who, i'm not trying to hate on mara as far as i can tell she talented and is just a pawn in all of this. her stylists are going wild with her and people are going cah-razy. personally, i think she's simply wearing things that tilda swinton would wear... she's just younger and, arguably more attractive. swinton has long been a big name among the avant-garde and fashion elite, i think the fashion world is forgetting how brilliant fashion can be because a pretty girl is wearing contrived "modern" fashion. i'm also not saying that her fashion is bad, i quite like it, i'm just bothered by how mesmerized everyone seems to be with her style when her point of view is not particularly new or different.

okay, so there are things that one feels like it's okay to be obsessed with... shoes and handbags. foreign films. jazz music. pretty little liars. wait. huh. what. yes, that's right. i am OBSESSED with pretty little liars. not only is the show ridiculously compelling and not in the same trashy/we act like middle aged single people way that gossip girl does. not a fan. they also have brilliant clothes and while stylish, they are completely appropriate for young adults. i am pretty sure i would wear every piece of clothing worn on the show. even the moms.

i'm confused.

first off, let me say. i do not have any real problems with kim kardashian or any of her less famous family members... i think she is a STUNNING girl with genius hair. i mean her hair is brilliant. right!?!? but despite having unbelievably wonderful hair i am a little mystified that people seem to care about her so damn much. i would love to know why? as far as i can tell, she was friends with paris hilton because her daddy was a famous lawyer? or something... but other than that she owns a clothing boutique... right!? am i missing something? has she ever actually done anything? i mean, she isn't a stylist? is she? she's not an actress or muscian??? right!? is she really just a pretty girl? i understand that now she "designs"... let's use that term loosely... and has all of these opportunities with fashion... but i wanna know why? was it really only because she's famous and has her life splashed all over the media... she had a sex tape and some how turned that into a ba-gillion dollar cash cow... cause let's face it, she's not a fashion icon. she dresses well, but herve leger gowns and brian atwood pumps aren't fashion breakthroughs. and dude, she wears more makeup than most drag queens i've met... so why the obsession!?

i know, i know... it's roy g biV, but in my world it's bif and the f stands for fuchsia... and fuchsia is friggin fabulous, and if you have a problem with my change you can kiss my ass ;) yeah, i'm feeling feisty today. i absolutely love all of the color that we have been seeing starlets rock on the red carpet. this is most definitely a trend that should be trickling down into our everyday lives.

now, i don't know if i have ever truly divulged how big of a super nerd i am... let me assure you, i am. i am a monster dork. i love lara croft & various other video games, lord of the rings, harry potter, star wars, twilight, buffy, moonlight, dr. who, alias, terminator, batman, ironman, spiderman, elektra, xmen, and yes, transformers... i even loved the second very crappy transformers... and when i heard that the uber-talented megan fox, insert laugh track, was leaving the films i was left heartbroken... well, really i didn't care, but still, when i heard that a supermodel, rosie huntington-whiteley, was taking her place, i was not surprised 'cause michael bay is a giant horn-dog pervert, but then i figured she couldn't be any worse than megan fox. but honestly, the way this chick has been dressing on her promo tour i could care less how well she acts. plus, she dates jason statham and she's a brit... she's gotta be pretty bad ass, right?

so if you haven't heard of site sole society, ohmylordy, you are missing out. i'm beyond obsessed. i've only been a member for 2 months, but i am so impressed. basically, it's a monthly shoe "club" where you are able to purchase stunning, well made shoes. you take a detailed fashion quiz and in return they create you a "closet" with shoes that they feel will suit your style. don't worry you can purchase any of the ones you want, by clicking on their facebook links to various pairs of shoes. the fb page is full of great pics and style ideas, so beware, you will spend lots of time looking through them :) even celebs like sophia bush and rachel leigh cook are rocking them in these pics. i swear, they aren't paying me to say any of this, i'm really that impressed... but if they'd like to pay me, i'm very unemployed and would love a job ;)
