so tasty i had to share...

holy bananas this was good. a few weeks ago, bo and i were hungry and tired and we whipped this meal together in record time, seriously, like 10 minutes total. it was so tasty and not terribly bad for you either.

whole wheat tortillini with artichokes and peas for 2
1 package of ww buitoni pasta
1 can of artichoke hearts in water, quartered
1 1/2 cup frozen peas (we really like peas, use what you like)
2 tablespoons of olive oil
2 cloves of garlic minced (we like garlic, use what you like)

start water for pasta with peas in to defrost, bring to a boil, and cook pasta as directed on package. heat up olive oil and saute the garlic until it's aromatic, but before it turns brown. Add artichokes to oil and garlic, toss around. add a few table spoons of pasta water to oil. strain peas and pasta and add to oil. mix up and serve. add parm or red pepper to taste. sooo good.

if you try it, let me know how it works out for you.

ah, t-shirts. so unappreciated.

here are just a few of my favorite t-shirts. i loooove t-shirts, can you tell? from the top, my canada, eh? shirt which was supposed to be a joke, but i seriously wear this all of the time. my j.crew outlet tee is the perfect length and goes perfectly with my redneck chic ensemble, cutoffs and marc jacobs, genius! my sara bareilles shirt fits soooo well, digging it with the blazer. and finally my super cool no doubt tee and hammond in one of bo's undershirts. he's also a fan of t-shirts. i loooove concert tees and have started a collection, i also have justin and britney.
my favorite tee's are made by bdg, you can get them at urban outfitters 2 for $24. they are super sheer and super low, but they fit perfect and come in tons of amazing colors.

i love embellished t-shirts the top is a printed tee from gap product red, $28. the bottom two are from j.crew both on sale, top $19.99 and bottom $24.99. i also just bought the greatest shirt from j.crew outlet. it has a sequined scotty on it. can't wait to wear it.

i love tee's because they are soooo versatile. you can wear them with jeans, leggings, skirts, dress pants! the options are limitless. i love seeing how celebs dress them up or down. what do you think? do you loooove t-shirts as much as me? would you wear a tee for a night out? or do you prefer to only wear them when sleeping and working out?

so much to be thankful for...like marc jacobs...

look at my new baby!!!!!! isn't it she stunning? thank god for living in the middle of nowhere!!! the sales that happen in small, local boutiques are out of this world. i have been stalking two marc by marc jacobs bags for the past two months. i got my lil riz twisted handle bag 30% off. i am in freaking love!!! aaaannd, i'm a mallari purse triplet and that's a big deal for those of you what know what that means ;) i'm soooo spoiled.
i hope everyone had a delightful thanksgiving. ours was great, bo fried a turkey and managed to not burn the house down, the food was soooo good. my buddy lydia made three Ah-mazing pies. oh my lord, so tasty!!! but i have to say i can't wait to start our family diet next week. i feel eh. do you like how i hid my gut under a comfy dress? i wanted to look relaxed, but cute, so i busted out my comfy gap dress, my leopard print yellow box flats, and my new banana republic necklace. i'm sans makeup so, i apologize for the scary ;) here are just some pics that made me smile...and yes, i realize that none of them are of food...

greatest suit ever.

are you tired of twilight yet? well, tough because these kids know their fashion or at least they pay someone to know it for them, but either way they look great. ashley greene has had some iffy fashion moments with me, but this hits it out of the park. this has such a rocker vibe, kinda 60's, kinda 70's...i can't exactly place it. then with the rolled cuffs and cutesy black sandals. i freaking love this. i love the mixture of stripes. in hindsight, i wonder if she realizes that stripes on tv. not a good combo. but i'm guess with her movie making nearly 270 million dollars worldwide in less than a week, she could give a crap. love it.

*oh, and i also should thank ashley greene because if she wasn't so hot, bo probably wouldn't have been as willing to see new moon with me on monday. yes, that's twice for me. he looooves her. he even bought me a maxim with her on the cover...thanks hubby...

ama fashion...or lack thereof.

the ama's were on yesterday and the fashion was just as you would expect at a music award show. interesting with a side of super tacky. we fast forwarded through most of the awards. we watched most of the performances and zac brown band present an award, but that was about it. which is probably why it didn't bore us to tears. also, i am really glad taylor swift wasn't present, she annoys the crap out of me...i just want to hit children every time she wins an award.
*i also enlisted the help of my husband, bo, for a male perspective. and some humor.
love this chick, shakira knows how to shake her ass and i love this canary yellow versace frock. sexy and fun. love the geometry. her performance was super good times.
bo's opinion: looks like caution tape. it's alright. her performance looked good, but the camera angles were all jacked.
don't know who designed this, but mary j. looks fabulous!!!! if only her performance was as fierce. i was really bored by it. i miss no more drama mary.
bo's opinion: it's kinda boring, but pretty. it's good though, simple and standard.
i don't know who this little girl is, except she used to date taylor lautner, lucky bitch. i also read that she couldn't pronounce her dress's designer, talbot ruhof. super tacky little girl. but the dress is great, love the shoes. the hair ages her a bit.
bo's opinion: i don't know who that is (exactly bo) she looks like a disco ball.
ah, nicole...nicole. nicole. nicole. what have you done to your beautiful face??? it's almost sad. her lips, that forehead, she is starting to look alien, i hope she chills it with the injectables. all of her face nonsense aside, the dress, balenciaga, is not filling my heart with joy. if possible it kind of makes her look wide. not a good choice kidman.
bo's opinion: it makes her look two feet taller than she actually is. looks familiar on her. it's pretty.
melody thorton of the pussycat dolls, looked hooooot. the dress, the booties, the ponytail. all just sexy and fun. great makeup. good work. this look is perfect for a music award show.
bo's opinion:don't like the lines, it makes her look wide. she's pretty though.
this is the first time in a while i have totally dug something fergie has worn, but i think this is sort of fabulous. i love the studs. i do love studs, i should've been a freaking rockstar. this armani prive is fabulous. she looks great.
bo's opinion:looks hot, appropriate to the event. well done.
gucci. uh, welcome back jenny from the block...you should put on some damn clothes. she is fabulous, but this gucci just seems ridiculous. i don't know why? i just feel like it's trying too hard. much like her performance it fell flat. haha. that's mean.
bo's opinion:don't like the asymmetry. it looks all cut up and shit. the shoes look ridiculous, so i'm guessing they are supposed to be fashionable.
veronica mars looks fabulous!!! what amazing skin this chick has???? bitch. she looks fabulous in her christian cota. heck, she looks better than most of the musicians in attendance.
bo's opinion: it's pretty, she always is. good work sarah marshall.
dear sweet jesus! kelly no!!!!! what are you doing??? sheer black tights, NOOOOO!! this dress makes her look heavier and about 25 years older. noooot good. kelly needs to look to other big girl fashionistas...ugly betty would never look like this hot damn mess. her performance on the other hand was fantastic, her hair pulled back looked much better. this just makes me sad.
bo's opinion: i mean, she should've chosen something to flatter her figure better. she looks wide.
mother of god, what is this? leona and kelly both need a stylist stat! what is this? yuck, yuck. she looks so strange, i mean her proportions are so skewed by this nastiness. ick.
bo's opinion:looks like a futuristic outfit. like what they thought the future would look like in the 80's.
i know carrie is a country girl, but i am soooo over this giant hair of hers. it really takes away from her amazing theia dress and fabu shoes. her performance was okay, but i don't think her new stuff is as captivating as the last two cds. that's just me.
bo's opinion: it's hard for me to say anything bad about her because she always looks good. so she looks good.
love alicia keys!!!! love her!! "neeew york the streets will make you feel brand new, these lights will inspire yooooouuuu" love it!!!! i never like her clothes though, this armani prive is alright, the shoes are super cute and cover up her mad kankles. i am more bothered by the hair and makeup. i like her hair with volume.
bo's opinion: pretty colors, looks like bathroom tiles. i, uh, like it for my bathroom...or a backsplash.
another person i don't know, but was in pictures on every website. demi lovato is another disney kid. i think. i haaaaatttteee this dress. ew. everything blends, her jenny packham dress, her shoes. the only thing that sticks out are her ridiculously dark eyebrows. she should try dying her hair just a tad lighter, this looks harsh and instead of looking like angie or megan fox, she looks like a drag queen.
bo's opinion: yeesh, what the hell is that? (this refers to who she is and what she is wearing)
rihanna is my hero. see this is ridiculous, but it's edgy and out of the box, not scary. she can wear whatever she wants. i love this marchesa! i love her hair and her makeup. the only thing i don't love is the shoes. white pointy heels...ah, doesn't really complete this look for me. they look a bit trampy versus high fashion princess. but i still love her.
bo's opinion:it looks like something off of the runway. so it's looks completely impractical for everyday people.
yikes!!!! so that's a lady gaga and that's an adam lambert. they are both terrifying. seriously what crazy juice are these kids drinking from??? at least she is talented. his performance was ridiculous and disgusting. ew. i feel dirty just blogging about them.
bo's opinion: (shakes head) ...that's all...
i just had to throw in a pic of the fellas! they are such rockstars!! they all look great! they look cohesive without looking like n'sync back in the day with matching puffer jackets or beige turtle necks. look it up it's hilarious. i totally dig zac's vest. fabulous.

hate the haters. new moon rules.

so i saw new moon at midnight on thursday evening. and it was an adventure. lindsay and i had a delightful evening. figo pasta for dinner. i was going to have mushroom ravioli, but opted not to be that big of a nerd. if you understand why that makes me a nerd then you are also a giant freaking nerd. we got to the theatre around 9:30 and after taking innapropriate pictures with the posters outside we decided to try our hand at waiting inside, it was damn cold. well, to our surprise we could already be seated. so we sat down, it just so happened to be in club luna nueva. it was hilarious. we seriously cracking up. the quote of the night was by a giant latino gentlemen, who stated, "new moon will make people do some crazy shit!" we were dying! they actually moved seats before the movie started. well, it got a lot less interesting and much quieter. we also saw a ton of uuuugly homemade t-shirts, stating team jacob/edward, or our favorites "team jailbait" ew, gross. the hallways were cramped with lunatic soccor moms. seriously, like 45 years old running around screaming, "who's team edward?!?!" then "who's team jacob?!?" i wanted to scream, "who's a buckhead betty still buzzed from your two o'clock martini-fest!?!?"

isn't my outfit soooo cute? gap skinny jeans, matisse boots, homemade twilight tee...shut it, j.crew cardigan, and my forever 21 hoodie...that i get so many compliments on, it cost 30 dollars, awesome. that's my new hair cut/color too. i loooove it. hodge is a genius.

okay, so it's review time. the trailers started and the audience went wild and to my excitement rarely annoyed again with the exception of the child like giggles that erupted everytime anyone was shirtless. so, what can i say? other than i was a huge fan. i thought it did the books proud and even managed to make it a tad less cheesey. new moon is my favorite of the series and i don't feel like anything too important was left out. the story, of course, follows bella after her vampire love edward leaves her. she is helped out of her vampire coma by her good friend jacob black who happens to be a werewolf. ah, the drama of teenage love. well, of course it get's very exciting when edward thinks bella is dead and decides to off himself. i don't want to give away too much, but really, who doesn't know the story?

the biggest complaint from major film critics was the film's overall downtrodden energy, which i thought was perfect. the whole book is a big depress-fest. i thought that kristen did a beautiful job of showing her loss without being a crybaby, which is true to the story. a few critics also claimed that it lacked the inspiration of the first film...i dissagree, in fact, i think that many things were improved in this film. i thought that this movie was a much closer representation of the book. there were some things that i wish were in the movie, but i didn't feel like anything was lost, whereas in the twilight, i feel like a ton of scenes were left out that really needed to in the film. i thought that the actors did a much better job, seriously, kristen and rob really uped their game and taylor lautner really shocked me. he's going to be a great pain in the ass in eclipse. i loved all the action added in by the filmmakers. plus, i thought in the midst of all the saddness, it was really funny. and dear lord, the special effects were a trillion times better!!!! thank you chris wietz! even the most tight assed critic would have to agree with me about that. i also thought the casting was superb, the volutri, were amazing!! omg, martin sheen as aro was crazy creepy and just soooo good. and dakota fanning was fabulous, she is great at being bad good for her, i mean, her face when bella is immune to her power was priceless. love it.

my biggest complaint was with the music. it sucked. the score was soooo cheesy and really bothered me. the score in the first film was far more interesting, creepy and solemn. i felt like the score almost gave away what was going to happen next. i also thought that the loooong upclose shots were a bit much. i mean, i like looking at jacob's 45 pack just as much as the next girl, but it was like enough already...the only omitted scene i really wish was in the film was when alice talks to charlie while bella is supposed to be "sleeping" but i really don't feel let down. i expected the cheesy dialogue and the childish story...but isn't that kind of the appeal? i mean we like it because it makes us feel like sex crazed teenagers again?

i thought in the end i think that if you are a fan, you will still be a fan. i think if you are a normal human being and not a movie snob and you have a vagina you are probably going to like it. if you are a normal human being and not a movie snob and have a penis you may like it. otherwise, if you are an alien and a movie snob you are probably not going to be a fan...

so what did you think? love it? hate it? anything you are pissed wasn't included? tell me all of your thoughts. just don't be unnecessarily mean. i will delete you.
