mrs. potato head and skinny jeans.

for my neice kylie's birthday my sister told me that i had to buy her skinny jeans. so i was like, "okay!" they are the cutest thing ever, she looks like a little rock star groupie! it's so funny! the butt pockets have bows on them, adorable! plus, all of the little grommets are little pink rhinestones. on this particular day, kylie was playing mrs. potato head and even though you can't tell she kept putting all three purses on her arm! it was cracking me up, a girl after my own heart. and the best part was every now and again she would take cell phone brake! kids are terrifying, but every once and awhile they can be soooo much fun.

Mano Po 6

Like what I said sa Facebook ko.....

Mano Po 6 was really great, I love it, I cried with it and I can relate to the movie since I am Chinese myself.

But the situations that happen of not recognizing a half Fil-Chi daughter-in-law was quite OA na if it'll happen this time and age. Maybe back in the 70's or 80's.

For me the best Mano Po was the 2nd one, maybe because same situation still happens till the present day. Chinese father dies, the eldest song assumes the responsibilities. the father having a mistress, but the real wife turns a blind eye just to keep the family for the children's sake. Ohhhhh I so can relate! hahahahahhaha.

Synopsis
A half-Chinese, half-Filipino mother who's struggled most of her life to be accepted by her husband's family tries to reconnect with a daughter she left in the care of her sister-in-law. But the daughter believes she was abandoned, and the sister-in-law has kept a grudge against her, making things a lot more complicated.

nothing says fashion like kelly clarkson and hockey...

now, i know what you are thinking...kelly clarkson and hockey have very little to do with fashion...well, you would be right, but i made sure to look super cute watching both.

kelly clarkson is a true artist. if you have never heard her sing live, i suggest you do because she is incredibly gifted. her voice is transcendent, it's so soulful and strong. plus, she sings the most amazing music, stuff that a recording label would never let her record, bastards. she really is wonderful. she does have some pretty terrible style. i wish she would let me help ;) she visited pensacola earlier this month and really gave a great show. i decided to dress boldly. i choose my favorite forever21 liquid leggings, a shiny matty m tunic, my super uncomfortable forever21 wingtips, and my banana republic necklace. to keep warm, on a surprisingly brisk evening, i added my fave j.crew cardi and forever21 "leather" hoodie.
back home for christmas, we talked my parents into taking us to an atlanta thrashers game! yay hockey!!! i decided i wanted to be cute for all of my boys, who suck by the way. they lost 5-4. i was sooooo angry, but at least there were some good fights. i went for my fave cheapo thick tights, my kensie tunic, my old navy cardi, my forever21 bomber hoodie, and my kelly & katie boots. my headband is the cutest little sparkly bow, it's by goodies, i got it for 5 dollars at target. i really looked cute and it matched my thrashers scarf, not pictured. i really wish i had some over the knee boots to wear, but i just haven't found any that i loooove, well any that i can afford :)

happy freaking holidays...

so i am totally a scrooge this year. blah. but i do love my family, even more, i love the ladies in my family. my mom, sister, and neice are three of the coolest people i have ever met and despite my holiday nasty i love these ladies. here are some photos of my super fabulous family.
this is my favorite picture ever!!!! my aldo shoes and the tree and little miss kylie in the background. i love this. i am so getting this blown up and putting it somewhere in my house. love.
i think my scooge-ness is displayed perfectly in this photo. i'm super hot, while looking like i want to punch santa in the wiener.
lanza family tradition, no seriously, we really like booty in our fam.
how hot is my kid sister? can you believe she has a child? her ass is fabulous, it's a thing a rap legend.
now seriously, how hot is my mom? she is totally rocking her boots. i dig it.
shan and kylie being cute, it's also one of the rare photos where kylie actually looks at the camera.
hurricane kylie. she is adorable. and her skirt is awesome. i would wear it. right now.
sandy and kylieboo being super cute. i really like this picture of my ma.
me and my hot sister. i'm rocking a simply vera tunic, forever32 liquid leggings, and aldo heels.

my model poses. so now we all know why i'm not a model :)
costume change. well, let's just say it's hard to walk on my parents super polished hardwood in the 4 inch heels, so i switched to my trusty yellow box leopard flats.

i hope everyone has a fabulous holidays!!! merry christmas-hanukkah-kwanza-festivus!

lauren lanza osias is sad...

i just wanted to post because well, this is where i get to vent and you get to hear it. the adorable and talented brittany murphy passed away this morning of a cardiac arrest and that makes me really sad. i'm sure the media shit-storm will begin shortly with all kinds of bollocks and crap, but i just wanted to say that i thought she was charming and supremely talented. she was a versatile actor, who really made me laugh. not to mention, i loved this ladies voice. my condolences go out to her family and friends.

a bunch of hot chicks and crap-ton of botox.

the botox is all from nicole kidman's marble forehead. which begs the question? what was wrong with her forehead before? nothing? she has never not been hot! now she looks like an alien...and don't get me started on those lips...I digress. Rob Marshall's babe-fest musical nine had it's new york premiere and all of the sexy ladies made it out. i can't wait to see this movie, too bad the hubby will never go see it with me, hmph.
penelope cruz, oh how i love thee! in vintage chanel this chick seriously knows how to tear up the red carpet. i love the soft retro waves, simple makeup, and dainty jewels. sex siren, hello!? i mean this woman does no wrong! i love her and no, it's not just because i have been told i look like her, which i love!!! ;)
my expressionless princess. i love nicole's cutie prada. i like bubble hems, so shoot me? the shoes are kinda, eh? but overall i think she looks nice...underdressed? maybe. over botoxed? definitely.
marion cotillard is an amazing actress and a so-so red carpet dresser. i hated her oscar gown two years ago, she looked like a mermaid porn star, not cool. so, i don't always love her choices, but this dior is pretty spectacular. i love all of the pieces, the necklace, the cute little nugget purse(even though i generally dislike when celebs carry purses, that's why you have "people"), the necklaces, the dark nail polish, and the relaxed hair. she looks pretty friggin amazing.
so kate...huh...well. i love chanel. i love the hair and makeup. but...well...it appears your dress has a tail? and maybe it's just me, but it looks like an afterthought and well, like a tail. kate hasn't been my favorite on the red carpet for quite some time, she used to be boho chic with a messy sophistication and i kind of miss that. remember that valentino from the golden globes many moons ago...so fabulous.
fergie-ferg looks pretty fabulous in her marchesa gown. the big dark hair, the flowy white chiffon, the sparkly belt, jewels, bag. i am okay with all of this. it's not super fashion forward, but at least it's not a hot mess and fergie knows a lot about hot mess. remember the pee? so strange.

is it just me or does this not look good...

i can't figure it out, but this looks totally blah to me. the bodice of the andrew gn gown is stunning, but the skirt is a bit prom for me. her arms look AH-mazing, but is it the face, the braided blonde hair, the lip color...what is it? it just seems sooooooo wrong! rachel mcadam's is stunning and usually very well put together on the red---turquoise carpet, but this is just not working on so many levels for me. so am i crazy? or does something seem off?

hmm, very interesting...

so if you know me, you know that i friggin love diets. not really going on them, but i am fascinated by nutrition and how the body works. i have read sooooo many contradicting things, but in general i just feel that if you are kind to your body and do naughty things only in moderation you should be good to go. i have for a very long time been interested in leading a vegetarian lifestyle, i gave up red meat nearly 6 years ago and haven't looked back. i have also recently had to take a break from dairy and as much as i love it, i really do feel lighter when i don't eat it. i am loving cher horowitz's aka alicia silverstone's new book, the kind diet. silverstone went vegan in the late 90's and has never looked or felt better. it's written for people like me who need help knowing what they are getting into going meatless, she really tries to educate from a medical, spiritual, and environmental standpoint. she also seems to understand that not everyone can uphold this lifestyle because this type of eating goes beyond a simple diet plan. also, i still get grief from my italian family about not eating red meat, so i love that she makes a point of saying that this is something you do for yourself, so you feel healthy. we will see.

the book has brought up some really interesting conversations between myself and my very carnivorous husband and i am only on the 22nd page. i will keep you posted, but for tonight i am going to go grill some chicken ;)

*check out alicia silverstone's website here. it's full of great information and a wonderful group of people.

who looked cuter than you this week...

mandy moore looking stinking hot in escada! maybe it's because i have a monster huge ass, but i love this silhouette. she looks great. i really prefer her with dark hair. fabulous.
ah, kate bosworth looking super skinny and super hot. i love this sonia rykiel number. the bow is so stinking cute. love, love, love this!!!! the shoes with the straps and the bows. fabu!!!
this is a jessica stroup, part of the oh-so terrible 90210 cast, but this girl is looking fabulous. i love this ensemble. so sparkly yet basic.

man i love this chick. keira knightley could walk around in a brown paper bag and she would still look like a super model. doesn't she just make you want to buy some chanel? even in a shearling coat and a beanie she looks fresh and sassy.

it's fun to be the the most stylish person in an entire city...

so bo and i took a quick trip to asheville, nc to see the biltmore and what we found was the cutest little city full of great restaurants, awesome art galleries, and a whole bunch of tacky hippies. yikesola! these folks were crazy. i'm all for being comfortable, but it was a peasant skirt, patagonia nightmare. i should've taken pictures, but i didn't. i still wanted to feel cute despite all of the tack. and so cute i was. it was freaking cold, so i got to bundle up and it was a great excuse to layer. plus, i finally got to wear my purple tights!!!! yay!!!
aren't we precious? yeah. my teeth look so white and straight. love my orthodontist. actually, he was really creepy...he looked like mr. burns from the simpson's and always smushed my nose with his monster huge hands.
that's me, it's freezing outside, bo seemed to think it was funny.
i was dancing...then i was frolicking. this was the day we explored the gardens. it was amazing, straight out of a jane austen novel in north carolina. so odd. loved. it. i felt like such a rockstar this day. this outfit was sooooo comfy.
i switched up my rockstar outfit and added black leggings and my black slouchy boots.
it's snowing!!!! yay!!!! it didn't last and was oddly one of the warmer days. i felt sooo cute, those purple tights are AH-mazing. i love them.
on our last day, i had some fun with liquid eyeliner and my favorite mac russian red lipstick. i busted out the new cynthia vincent boots, only because it wasn't supposed to rain, it didn't. whew. safe.

so tasty i had to share...

holy bananas this was good. a few weeks ago, bo and i were hungry and tired and we whipped this meal together in record time, seriously, like 10 minutes total. it was so tasty and not terribly bad for you either.

whole wheat tortillini with artichokes and peas for 2
1 package of ww buitoni pasta
1 can of artichoke hearts in water, quartered
1 1/2 cup frozen peas (we really like peas, use what you like)
2 tablespoons of olive oil
2 cloves of garlic minced (we like garlic, use what you like)

start water for pasta with peas in to defrost, bring to a boil, and cook pasta as directed on package. heat up olive oil and saute the garlic until it's aromatic, but before it turns brown. Add artichokes to oil and garlic, toss around. add a few table spoons of pasta water to oil. strain peas and pasta and add to oil. mix up and serve. add parm or red pepper to taste. sooo good.

if you try it, let me know how it works out for you.
