weirdest group of people...ever...

so, the elle held their style awards in london this week and i have to say that this is a strange group of ladies... i suppose they are all known for their style...but...odd...
i love me some olsen twins, even if mary kate looks like she has had a facelift at 20-something. Ashley on the right is rocking the most beautiful christian lacriox. stunning!!! i even like red fur/feather/homeless person cape she's wearing in the middle. She's adorable, the neckline and the sleeves are just perfection. mary kate is predictable in her lanvin ensemble, but i ain't mad at her.
okay, i get that she has great fashion, but will somebody please tell me why olivia palermo is invited to this thing? i totally must not be in the loop...because yeah...i'm at a loss. with that said i freaking love this outfit, her matthew williamson frock is just so girly i love the asymmetry of the sleeves and that belt is just perfect. plus, i am totally digging the orange clutch. still don't get why she's famous?
my favorite angst ridden teen. oh, k.stew how i love thee? you gotta hand it to the girl, for someone who clearly couldn't give a shit, she looks amazing! i don't mean that in a bad way...fame is of no interest to her and that's fine, in fact i think it's awesome...i don't think actors need to be on all the time, she has been very clear of how grateful she is to have her job and that's all we need to know...moving on, this pucci dress is fabulous, i can't decide if i like the bodice or the skirt better...i would look good in this, just saying...
it's the minogues? wait, who? kylie and danni minogue...um, locomotion...i can't get you out of my head...that's all i got. oh, she has a really perky ass!? ringing any bells? i'm assuming she is still very big in the uk? maybe? she is looking yawn-worthy in ysl and her preggers sister danni is wearing lisa ho...i totally couldn't tell she was with child, so is that considered a success? i don't know...they look like a bumble bee...i hope that wasn't planned.
this is unfortunate...carey mulligan is sooooo cute and this is sooooo not. the outfit is the row and while i actually dig the pieces separately, together they make her look like a librarian and not a sexy one...a mean one that shushes you and hits you with rulers. that jacket would look fierce with some skinny jeans, a black tee, and some crazy wild gladiator sandals...soooo not good.
this is gonna get me a lot of crap. like any good fashionista, i love emaciated alexa chung, but this chanel ensemble is disgusting! i'm soooo sorry, please don't pelt me with olives. this is a style awards show, glam it up a bit. wash your hair. she looks like a grandma, hell, nanny, my grandmother would be offended that i called this granny because she is one and would never wear this!!! this just doesn't work for me and since when do you carry full sized purses on the red carpet, what's in there? cigarettes and laxatives? eat a sandwich and put on a gown. this just isn't making me happy.

holy bafta, batman.

we here in the states tend to forget about britain's big night...actually, i'm pretty sure brit's forget about britain's big night too ;) it's generally a kind of casual event, although some ladies really go all out...i think that this was a super fun red carpet, some really pretty dresses and some truly heinous dresses. oh what fun!?
my two best dressed! saoirse ronan on the left in burberry is out of control hot!!!! it's hard not to think of her as little briony tallis in atonement or as my husband likes to call her "selfish bitch kid" he really hated her in that film...well, who can blame him, she essentially got keira knightley killed, the love of his life!!! any who, back to the dress, fabulous fabulous fabulous! the shoes, the bracelets, the hair, the makeup, ah-mazing! and then little miss perfection on the right! audrey tautou is flawless and in this pink lanvin she just looks like the little angel that she is. the red clutch, lip, and shoes could look matchy-matchy, but somehow on her it looks just right! i just can't even find the proper words to describe how fabulous she is!
ah, my twilight girls, wha-what!? kristen stewart actually won an award, good for her, her speech was crazy painful though, she's soooooo awkward. but i thought she looked pretty cute, this isn't my favorite of her fashion choices, but this chanel is pretty adorable. it fits a bit lumpy by the boobies, but those shoes are ah-mazing! her hair is getting better too. hell, i'm just happy she's smiling. and my darling anna kendrick, looking like a freaking cha-cha dancer in pucci. something about the fit of this dress is off. it looks wide, like it floats too far away from her body. her hair is a bit wonky too, is it supposed to be loose on the right side? this just doesn't do it for me, the color on the other hand is perfect for her...
holy crap, it's ginny weasley all hot and whatnot!!!! bonnie wright is smoking hot which begs the question, how did they know she would grow up to be so hot when they cast her? anyways, this prada gown looks pretty fabulous on her...it's a bit plain and a bit too grown up, but the fit is pretty awesome, so she will get bonus points. ah, claire danes in burberry and all grown up. i don't like this...it seems so proper...you know!? like it should be edgy and rocky...but the red lipstick, dainty jewels, and mom hair just make it kind of ordinary...now with some retro pin curls pulled into a mess updo, chunky bangles, and a swipe of deep burgundy lipstick...that would be amazing.
yay, brits!!! i wish i could be a brit...i loved england, so fresh and vital...now some of you americans may not know who this lovely and very preggo lady on the left is, silly americans. that's anne marie duff aka mrs. james mcavoy! that's right, she is having mr. tumnus' baby. lucky bitch. she's wearing alberta ferretti and eh? it's okay, but she's like super preggo and looks amazing so we won't be mean. carey mulligan is the cutest thing on the planet, seriously, go watch her interview on craig ferguson if you want to really laugh out loud. here she is in a vionnet gown and i just don't know what to think. part of me wants to love it, the rest of me just can get past the split skirt with the mini underneath...the pattern and the neckline is just fabulous, but yeah that skirt...i can't get passed it. she looks great as a blonde though.
what is this magic pill that kate winslet has taken? she looks freaking amazing! and this stella mccartney dress is sexy and understated...i think, while simple, this is a pretty fantastic look for her. oh, vera farmiga and your big dress. i have always been a fan of this marchesa gown, but doesn't it kind of seem done? like we've seen it a thousand times. with that aside, she looks amazing. her hair and makeup look the most normal i've seen them in a while, no electric blue or orange eyeshadow...thank god.

hmmm. i'm stuck. i don't know what to think. this chick on the left is jamie winstone and she is wearing a very familiar vintage alexander mcqueen. first off, she looks like a tranny. second, didn't claire danes wear this gown???? i have searched high and low for photos...seriously, like 3 hours last night!!! i have no life. i love the fur with the dress, but it's been done before...this dress has been worn...so find another way to pay tribute and maybe don't look like a drag queen. kristen scott thomas kind of scares me...she looks so french in this photo, french and angry. she is wearing louis vuitton, hence the french vibe...but she looks like the older woman who seduces young boys and then throws them away or kills them...hmm.
oh and this is just some yummy for you...my god he's sexy...mm, mm, mm. holy bananas.

um, how 'bout no...

wow, wow, wow...when bad clothes happen to good people or in this case, these people. i can't believe this ugly, especially with the two jessica's they are way above looking this bad. the other two, well... well...
now, jessica biel's bustier is super cute, but those pants are DIS-gusting. i know pleated menswear inspired pants are big for the fall, but these are just wonky and on her sizable ass, this is not a flattering look, at all! it looks like there is a bulge by her crotch...hmm. i expect better from a vogue cover girl. now this thing on the right, kesha she's called, is so far down the hot mess trail that i fear she is lost forever, what is this chick thinking? lady gaga you are not, she wore this to an erin wasson show...i just have nothing to say... the hair, the suit, the jacket, the boots...wtf? she's a weirdo and not in a good way...
um, yikes jessica alba...yikes...did i mention yikes? her hair/makeup/bracelets are fabulous and that's saying a lot because her hair has been looking a little iffy lately. i actually like the prada dress and the miu miu boots, but together? oh no! the dress without the tights and a pair of super edgy, spiky, black strappy sandals, perfect, but this looks like something gwen stefani would wear on stage...and gwen she is not. not good.
this is the worst. i want the sweet, funny, talent lindsay lohan back, isn't it amazing what terrible parents can do to a child? it's actually almost too sad to make fun of, almost...first, what's wrong with her face, she's like 11 and she's already botoxed and filled those lips full, sick. the dress is just so blah and lindsay, black with red? what is this 1999? this was the kind of thing i would wear when i was in high school. she looks terrible, is she high? do you think? like right then? or right now? i read this article talking about how people won't invite her to fashion shows anymore because she's not worth the trouble or money...i wouldn't invite her because this is the kind of ugly that she wears and guess what? she has her own line of clothing??!?!?! bollocks!!!

botox, botox everywhere...

since it will take some time to organize the hundreds of pictures i saved from fashion week, i decided, again, to talk about something that's been bothering me lately. what's happened to celebrities faces? i'm not being funny or even mean spirited, it just pains me to see these beautiful women poke and prod at themselves until they are unrecognizable. I just don't understand what makes a person do it. Someone in the biz once explained it to me... it's like looking in the mirror and seeing something to change, maybe it's just something small, then these celebs go to an la doctor, big mistake, and the doctor informs them of 20 other things that they would change and because actors are so terribly insecure, they do it. so now it's normal to look like your face is stretched tight on a canvas and your top lip to be bigger than your bottom lip...ew! but as soon as you notice something sagging or another line, you run to your doc who has no qualms about pumping your face up like a balloon...double ew. it's about time somebody told a celebrity no, you are beautiful and you don't need to change a thing. doctors are sleazebags.
hollywood is going to eat me alive, huh? i have no problem with a little work, i tell my hubby constantly we need to start my botox fund because i have absolutely believe in a little boost now and again. and i will tell you now that your favorite 20-something star who has never had botox...has had botox, i don't care what they say. if you do it and look good why lie about it? so many celebs claim they haven't had a face lift, bollocks. i may not be very smart, but i do know that you no matter how much sunscreen you use and how well you treat yourself, you can't look better at 40 then you did at 20...it just doesn't work that way. i think the women who look amazing shouldn't be lying about it, why not share the knowledge? the real secret is how to balance looking human and normal, while retaining youth. i mean, we all have wrinkles and when your face is so tight that you don't have smile lines around your eyes, you look like a freaking alien! that's not hot! balance people, balance.
i had side by side photos of celebrities to show of the good, the bad, and crazy ugly, but it's not even worth it, you know who i am talking about... so tell me, who in hollywood has taken it too far? who is doing it right? what do you think of using botox and other medical procedures to keep you looking young? are you morally opposed? would you consider it in the future? or do plan to stay au naturale? liar, you are so gonna have work done.

celebrities designing clothes...kind of annoying, right?

celebrities have tough lives. for serious. i mean, designer clothes, world travel, living their dreams, going to rehab...do these folks really have time to be "designing" their own fashion lines!? come on, everyone and their brother has a fashion line or a perfume and personally i find it annoying. i think my biggest problem is how these companies seem to equate stylish women with women who know design. now, some of these lines are incredibly successful and inventive, but it seems like such a gimmick most times.
i mean the kardashian's for bebe, no thank you, in fact even if a piece was cute i couldn't purchase it out of principal, these women are famous for NO reason, i'll repeat, NO reason...but it's okay, just because the have a reality show, own a clothing store, and are relatively fashionable...yeah, let's give them a fashion line! can they sew? sketch? there are designers all over the world who would kill to have their own line and we are gonna let some c-list celebrities make outfits that are cute. bollocks.
now, i know that the girls from laguna beach, the hills, the city...whatever, love fashion and studied blah blah, well, they also get fashion lines...hmm, so shitty reality television equals your own fashion line. suck. in the real world these ladies would have to spend years apprenticing and learning...unless they were exceptional designers and while i find both whitney port and lauren conrad very cute girls with great style, their clothes are overpriced, typical, and could easily be purchased at forever21 for a fraction of the cost.
and who's to say that fergie and jessica simpson know a damn thing about designing a shoe...i mean, they are cute shoes...most of them look like rip-offs of other shoes, which is fine, but why pay a celebrity to endorse a line of knockoffs? are fergie and jessica simpson that influential in the fashion world...no... now the one thing that i will give these two song birds is that both their shoe lines and boobie simpson's accessories are decent prices for a decent product.
i guess when it comes down to it, who cares? but i always get my panties in a twist when i see a celebrity get a ridiculously amazing opportunity for simply being, when there is a genius struggling designer out there that eats and breathes fashion working 6 jobs to survive. dude, you are actors and singers...you already get to live your dream, you don't need to be a brand. would i except a clothing line? i honestly don't know, i love fashion, seriously i love it, like i could wrap myself up in fashion and be happy forever, BUT i am not a designer i like to think that i can make art out of designers amazing work, but that's already a thing...it's called a stylist. and at the end of the day how many of these ladies dress themselves...hmmm. point made ;)
now, with all of that bitching i have to say there are a few celeb designers that just rock my socks. and i think i enjoy them because they seem devoid of that gimmicky element. my favorite celebrity designers, marykate and ashley olsen's elizabeth and james and the row, lamb by gwen stefani, and victoria beckham's new line. the olsen twins are really something special, they are fashion school drop outs, but really have this understanding of classic/boho/street/chic style, that's a freaking mouthful, that's what she said... moving on, i can't really afford much from their collections, but i can sure as hell try stuff on at intermix and their blazers fit like perfection, their shirts drape perfectly...they really understand what looks good on a women...so to me, they are designers that just so happened to be child actors. i think that gwen stefani has such a personal sense of style and a way of doing things that is completely her own and i think that her line is just beautiful, nothing seems manufactured, it's just her being real and honest through fashion. have you ever tried on lamb shoes? holy lord, your legs look like sex! so stinking hot! now my latest love is victoria beckham, i wasn't a huge fan of the dvf jean line which was full of that blah celebrity whatnot, but this new line is amazing, whoever they have added to the team was worth it. the clothes are very quintessential victoria beckham and seem to fit women like a freaking glove.

so that's my rant. what do you think? are you a fan of celebrity designers? does it even matter? who do you like? hate? does it make you laugh to know that madonna is currently working on a line for macys. it makes me laugh, just in a british accent...

sophia bush rocks fashion week.

sophia bush is all over the damn place! now don't get me wrong, the hubby and i both have little crushes on her, but it surprises me that she is invited to the front row for so many shows. good for her, she is brooke davis after all. i can't wait to be super important and get paid to go to a fashion show. i think she looks amazing! She apparently was taking to changing behind curtains in the tents to get into her next designer look. i am absolutely in love with her rebecca taylor look the mixture of patterns is just heavenly! she just looks fresh and hip in all of her outfits, which i think many younger celebrities try to pull off and just can't seem to manage. i also want to know what skin care she uses because her skin is flawless!!!
at alice + olivia
at rebecca taylor
at dvf
at max azria for herve leger

*side note, can you believe how much they pay celebrities just to show up places? doesn't that kind of make you feel like a pawn in world's marketing scheme...oooh i want a pretty designer dress because so and so wore it...wait, they got paid to wear that dress and had it styled just so...i would like to think that we are all individual enough to not be persuaded by the latest celeb fad, but how can you help it when you see your favorite celebrity wearing the most beautiful pair of shoes or carrying the most amazing purse. and on top of all of that, it seems wrong that the group of people that are actually able to spend thousands of dollars on clothes and accessories are just handed their pick...jerks. c'est la vie, when i'm all famous and whatnot, i will take whatever i can get ;)
